We invite women to submit their work, whether it be in the form of opinion pieces, interviews, narratives, investigative reports, or any other format, to delve into the experiences of migrant women.

About Migrant Women Press

Migrant Women Press is an independent media organisation focused on women’s experiences with migration. We are migrant women-led, written exclusively by migrant women.

We discuss migration through women’s lenses and investigate how the intersections of race, gender, class, nationality and disability impact women’s experiences in a new country.

Our mission is to amplify migrant women’s voices, reshaping migration narratives and bringing diversity into the media landscape.

Migrant Women Press was created to redefine migration narratives. Although migration is a leading topic in newsrooms in Europe, the complexities of migrants’ experiences are overlooked and portrayed in a hostile, biased and stereotyped way.

There is a glaring absence of fair and compassionate discussions surrounding migration. Although the world’s population percentage of international migrants is 3.6%, and nearly 50% are migrant women  (for the past 50-60 years), the experiences of migrant women were consistently overlooked and underrepresented.

We are changing the narratives around migration through migrant women’s lenses.

We are working to amplify the voices and experiences of migrant women through our work.

Since we were created in 2020, we have published articles about women from different ethnic backgrounds: Black, Asian, Arabic, White, Roma, and mixed-race. Our website has contributions from 30 women from more than 20 countries. We translated some of our content into Portuguese and Italian.

At Migrant Women Press, we are committed to publishing a diverse range of voices, and we welcome pitches from new and returning writers. Experience doesn’t matter to us as much as an engaging story, reflection or voice. Whatever your experience, we welcome you to our community.

We are unable to pay for contributions yet. Migrant Women Press is a 100% volunteer project, and since it started, we have run it on top of our day jobs, investing vast amounts of personal time and resources.

However, we recently registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC), and we are applying for funds and grants to pay our collaborators in the near future.

Your contributions will help us to change the narratives around migration, bring diversity to the media and amplify the voices of migrant women.

What we publish

We publish various formats (Opinions, features, investigations, interviews, personal essays, profiles, reviews, photo series). All the topics related to migrant women’s experiences are welcome.
